I have insulin resistance (high levels of insulin). Am I more likely to develope type 1 or 2 diabetes?
I was prescribed Metformin, 500 mg twice a day. My blood sugar is normal, although occasionally it drops to 60 or so and I get to feeling very weak. But it’s pretty rare.
Type 1 Diabetes is characterized by the fact that the pancreas completely fails. if you had Type 1 diabetes, you would very little or no insulin.
The fact that your insulin level is high indicates that your ARE BECOMING Type 2 Diabetic.
Follow doctors order, especially where diet and exercise are concerned. Have an A1C test taken every 90 days to judge your progress and effectiveness in controlling the disease.
Metformin helps the body use insulin better, When that happens, you blood sugars drop. Blood sugar levels below 70 are called HYPOGLYCEMIC. THAT is why you feel bad.
You MUST strictly control your diet to provide ENOUGH blood sugars to keep you running, but not too much.
