i am a 33 yr old woman with diabetes living in australia can anyone give me so low fat recipes please?
The answer to your question truly does depend on what kinds of food you enjoy eating….
There is a myriad of food to choose from that is low fat and low sugar and a myriad of recipes for each.
Perhaps if you list your favourite foods, fruits, vegies, meat, seafood, chicken, people can then target what you like as the main part of the recipe…. does that make sense?
I find that a salad of green leafy vegies with a garnish of fresh crushed garlic and lemon juice is just very refreshing and tasty, add
your favourite cruchy bread roll
or some tuna or salmon
or some chicken strips
or some low fat cheese
or a combination of these
and it is perfect.
For snacks
scones can be made as low fat by reducing butter/marg in the recipe and adding some low fat yoghurt instead. Add some of your favourite herbs to the mix for a nice savoury flavour.
To understand the purpose of ingredients in recipes ca help you figure out suitable subsititues or if you can lower or delete certain ingredients.
sugar, honey, syrup, are used to sweeten and also they help cakes, biscuits and astries etc to brown. SO you can lower the sugar content and simply accept that your biscuits will not brown..
Butter is used to bind ingredients together and can be subsitituted in many recipes with low fat yoghurt.
Milk is used to bind and to brown… so simply use low fat milk.
