the diet … oh, my… food is all new idea…. need ideas for meals … have you seen any on sites?…. most of what I’m finding is not at all encouraging…. she’s used to eating everything and this is a shock…. she’s not a big sugar eater, no candy, cakes, cookies… just her coke and things that taste better with a little sweet…. they took all her white flour and cold cereals away, too….and juices!….. what’s left that we can make a tasty meal out of?…. chicken salad is the only thing I can think of….. help?……
yes, of course she got a diet plan… what we don’t have is any idea of how to put those foods she’s allowed together, to make something tasty and enjoyable to eat!!!….
The ADA really has no clue here to what works and what doesn’t and neither do the doctors. They seem to think we can eat loads of carbs, like more than 30 grams per meal and get in compliance on glucose levels.
I eat bacon and eggs for breakfast nearly every morning. Occasionally I have a half slice of buttered toast.
I make lots of salads!! Green leafy base as in fresh spinach then tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, peppers, cheese, hard boiled eggs, and real salad dressing on the side. Sometimes I have a chicken thigh, sometimes a hamburger patty, and sometimes diced leftover meats from roast or other meats, about a half cup per salad.
The real dressing adds enough fats so one doesn’t feel hungry, but on the side I eat much less of it than if I were to upend the bottle over the salad.
Think of any food with seeds in it like tomato, cucumber, peppers as very low carb fruits!!! Avocado and nuts/seeds work well on salads too and are very healthy.
